Illinois has missed a deadline for the medical marijuana business licenses.

State officials had announced it would award licenses to grow and sell marijuana before the end of 2014. A state spokeswoman told the Chicago Sun-Times that no announcement would be made.

The statement said the state is working hard to make sure it’s done right and is doing a comprehensive review of the cultivation centers whose owners are asking for licenses.

There are only a limited number available.

There’s no word on when decisions will be made.
