What started as a festival marking the Great Chicago Fire fizzled out and has since been pretty much panned.

The Redmoon Theatre company had planned the spectacle, but apparently didn’t come prepared for a soggy night.

They claimed electrical problems kept the Victorian- inspired scenery from catching fire.

Even with the technical difficulties, today Mayor Emanuel said this event is going to become a city tradition.

The mayor did not acknowledge the criticism the festival has gotten.
