ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. — Police said they are investigating a double homicide in Arlington Heights.
Authorities were on the scene in the 00-99 block of South Derbyshire for about 18 hours.
At about 12:30 a.m. Saturday, police said they received a 911 call from the residence, but the line was open, with no one there. When police showed up to investigate, they found a man and a woman dead.
“It’s a very safe neighborhood. nI have never ever experienced anything like this around here,” said neighbor Tammy Walberg.
Several neighbors declined to talk to WGN on camera, but they said a couple in their late 60s lived in the home for more than 20 years. They had two adult children, several grandchildren and spent a lot of time playing in the yard.
Police said it’s too early to release any details about their investigation, but they do have a person of interest, who they took into custody overnight
Autopsies for the victims are slated for Sunday.
