CHICAGO — A man is in custody after walking on CTA tracks for hours this morning causing a service shutdown for parts of the Green and Pink line services.

Police got word around 2:40 a.m. Tuesday of a man walking along the elevated tracks above Lake Street near Morgan Street in the city’s West Town neighborhood.

SWAT, including a negotiator, responded to the scene and tried to convince the man to come down.

Around 7:30 a.m., the man jumped onto an inflatable, set up under the elevated tracks by police, and he was immediately taken into custody.

Normal service on CTA’s Green and Pink Line has resumed after being disrupted due to the earlier situation.

It is unclear at this time how the man got onto the tracks.
