Two weeks after a Florida man was killed when a sinkhole opened up under his bedroom, a man in downstate Illinois almost died when one opened up on a golf course.
At the Ann Briar Golf Course in Waterloo, a sinkhole on the 14th fairway opened up right underneath Mark Mihal.
It happened so quickly, the 43-year-old disappeared as his companions tried frantically to reach him.
The sinkhole grew to 18-feet deep and about 10-feet wide.
Mihal was in there for 20 excruciating minutes, he is claustrophobic.
His friends climbed into the hole and helped him make his way to a ladder.
Mihal suffered a dislocated shoulder.
He says he’ll golf again, just not at that course or that hole.
