Man shot on West Side is 4th sibling to die to gun violence

A man killed in a shooting on the West Side, is the fourth sibling to die from gunfire, said a family friend.

33-year-old Ronnie Chambers of the 8700 block of South Escanaba Avenue was fatally shot in 1100 block of South Mozart Street Saturday morning.

His sister LaToya was killed at age 15 on April 26, 2000. His brothers Carlos and Jerome also were gunshot victims, Carlos at age 18 shortly after Thanksgiving in 1995 and Jerome at age 23 on July 26, 2000.

Ronnie Chambers was sitting in the driver’s seat of a van when he and a friend were shot early Saturday morning. Chambers was identified by family members at the scene and later by police. The other man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital stable condition with gunshots to the buttocks and shoulder.

No arrests have been made.
