CHICAGO -- A man was shot during a fight near a crowded theater on the Northwest Side.

The shooting happened just after midnight Saturday at LaPorte Avenue and Irving Park Road, by the Portage Theater.

Police say the victim and his friends got into an argument with several men, when someone pulled out a gun and opened fire.

A 22- year-old man was shot in the shoulder. He ran off and called police, who were already in the area because of an event at the theater.

The victim was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

He has not been identified, but police say he is a known gang member.

No arrests have been made.
