ST. AUGUSTINE, Flor. — A Starbucks customer in Florida says he got a side order of rudeness with his coffee drink.

The customer ordered a Grande White Mocha, but he got more than he bargained for.

A message typed on the label of his cup read: “Diabetes, here i come.” And for this customer it hits close to home.

He says his two sisters suffer from Type 1 diabetes.

The store manager said this is something Starbucks definitely does not condone.

A 16 oz White Mocha has 470 calories. The manager says the only thing that should be written on the label is the drink type and the name of the customer.

The customer wrote a message on the same cup back to the baristas: “2 of my sisters are diabetic, so…not funny.”

“Seeing and knowing the struggle my sisters went through since third, fourth grade, it definitely struck a nerve,” the customer said.

He also said he doesn’t need an apology, he just wants assurance that it won’t happen in the future to other customers.

Starbucks said in a statement that it’s still trying to offer that customer a direct apology.

The company also said it’s taking steps to make sure the incident doesn’t happen again.
