Man dies after rescued from submerged vehicle in Jackson Park Harbor

CHICAGO — A man has died after he was rescued when his vehicle had gone into the water in Jackson Park Harbor.

The accident happened around 5:40 a.m. Wednesday near the 6500 block of South Promontory Drive in Jackson Park Outer Harbor.

The Chicago Fire Department and dive crews pulled the 59-year-old man from his submerged SUV. He was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition where he later died.
