CHICAGO –Chicago police issued a community alert for the South Austin neighborhood after a girl had a narrow escape from a stranger.

The incident happened just after 3:15 p.m. Sunday near the intersection of Jackson and Lockwood in South Austin.

Family members say a man grabbed the young girl and she fell from her bike.  He then put a bag over her head and tried to grab her.  Family says she kicked him in the face and was able to get away.

The victim was able to get a good description of the suspect.  He is described as a black male, 5’5 with a medium build and about 40-years-old with a bald head.

He has a heart tattoo on his neck and was wearing a brown long sleeved shirt, black pants and blue low top gym shoes at the time.

The victim’s mother says her daughter is still shaken up by all this but was able to go to school today.
