CHICAGO – Police are searching for a suspect who posed as a ride share driver and sexually assaulted a woman early Sunday morning.

The 21-year-old victim went onto her ride sharing app to get home.

The woman used her ride sharing app near Halsted and Roscoe in the heart of Boystown in Lakeview around 2 a.m.  She got into the car of a man posing as a driver of the ride share app.

He wasn’t.

Police say he took her home and then sexually assaulted her when he lured her back to the car, saying she forgot something.

The man was described as being between 40-45 years old, a “tan” complexion, about 300 lbs, short black hair, bushy eyebrow and a white stubbly beard. He spoke with a heavy accent.

The vehicle he drove is described as a beige or tan, possibly white, older model four-door sedan, possibly a Toyota Camry or Corolla.

Ride sharing services urge riders to verify the car, license plate and driver assigned to them. All of the information, including a photo, are given on the app.

Anyone with information can call Area North detectives at 312-744-8261.
