Man injured in Skokie police-involved shooting in 7-Eleven parking lot


SKOKIE, Ill. —  Police in suburban Skokie shot a man who they said was armed with a handgun in a 7-Eleven parking lot.

The shooting happened around 11:16 p.m. Monday outside the convenience store at 7950 Crawford Avenue.

Police said officers approached the man’s vehicle after receiving a call about a suspicious person inside a dark-colored SUV.  As officers got closer, the man displayed a semi-automatic handgun.

An officer fired one round, according to police, and shot the man in the abdomen.

He was transported to a local hospital for treatment. There is no word on his condition. A handgun was recovered from the scene.

The officer suffered minor injuries as a result of the incident.

The Illinois State Police Public Integrity Unit and the Skokie Police are conducting investigations into the incident.
