Man found unresponsive in high rise pool dies

CHICAGO -- Chicago Police and other emergency officials responded to a Gold Coast high rise after a 77-year-old man was found unresponsive in the building's 55th floor pool.

Police were on the scene for much of the afternoon at the high rise condo building overlooking the lake, near the intersection of Oak Street and Michigan Avenue.

The Chicago Fire Department responded at just after 12:30 Sunday afternoon. When they showed up, someone was pulling the man out of the water.

According to authorities, he was unresponsive. The fire department rushed him to Northwestern Memorial Hospital for emergency treatment, where he was pronounced dead.
