CHICAGO — A man was found dead in a public swimming pool at Franklin Park on the city’s West Side.

Around 12:50 a.m. Monday, Chicago police discovered a 27-year-old man unresponsive inside a public pool in the 1400 block of South Kolin Avenue in the Lawndale neighborhood.

The pool was closed.

First responders performed CPR, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

His name has not been released.

Police say the man is believed to have died from accidental drowning, but an autopsy has not confirmed that yet.

Police are still investigating.
