Man fatally struck by CTA Orange Line train

CHICAGO – A CTA Orange Line train struck and killed a man Sunday morning on the South Side.

The man was on the tracks as the train approached the Ashland Ave. station at the 3100 block of South Wood just before 5 a.m. Police said it was unknown if it was an accident or suicide. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The train conductor was injured in the collision, but he’s in stable condition.

Trains were suspended in both directions until about 10 a.m.
