HARVEY, Ill. — A man was shot to death in south suburban Harvey in an apparent home invasion, according to police.

The incident happened around 9 p.m. Wednesday in a basement apartment at 146th and Loomis.

Police said 33-year-old Antwan Hawthorne was shot multiple times and transported to Ingalls Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said the shooting appears to be the result of a home invasion, even though there was no forced entry.

His 4-year-old son and 5-year-old daughter were in the apartment at the time. Police are not saying if the children witnessed what happened.

Police said it was a targeted attack and a small amount of drugs were found in the home.

Neighbors told WGN they can’t stop think about what the children may have seen.

“The little boy looked like to me he was traumatized,” Harvey Ald. Keith Price said. “Those children’s lives will be changed forever.”

The children are staying with another family member tonight.

No one is in custody. Anyone with information is asked to contact Harvey police at 708-331-3030.
