EVANSTON, Ill. — Police are searching for a man accused of hitting a Northwestern University student after entering her dorm room in Evanston.

A surveillance camera captured a photo of the suspect.

A resident of Allison Hall called campus police around 4:30 p.m. Thursday to report a man in her dorm room.

Police say the two started to argue and the man took off.  The student followed him and confronted him again, and he threatened to shoot her.

The student did not report any injuries.

The suspect is described as a black man who appeared to be in his late 30s or early 40s, 6-feet tall and about 210 pounds. The man was bald and wearing a green sweatshirt, blue jeans and a gray backpack.

University police remind students not to let strangers into residence halls.
