CHICAGO — Chicago police have charged a man in a hit-and-run crash that killed a Chicago firefighter.

Lorenzo Douglas, 43, was killed last month on Ashland Avenue in the city’s Rogers Park neighborhood, when a northbound minivan crossed into the southbound lanes and hit him outside his parked car.

Police say Simeon Barrientas, 22, ran away on foot after he hit Douglas.

Barrientas will appear in court today facing a felony charge of failing to report a fatal accident.

He also had no driver’s license.
