CHICAGO – A man was shot and killed by his accomplice during an attempted home invasion on Chicago’s North Side Tuesday night.

Police say the victim, a 43-year-old male, was with another suspect and attempting to break into a home in the 2400 block of W. Eastwood Ave in Lincoln Square.

Police say the attempted home invasion was thwarted when the offenders encounterd several family members at the front door.

One of the offenders opened fire towards the porch, striking his accomplice in the head.

The 43-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. He has not yet been identified.

No one inside the home was hurt.

The second offender remains at large. No one is in custody at this time.

Police are investigating.
