Police are questioning one person of interest in the shooting death of a 67-year-old man in the West Woodlawn neighborhood.

67-year-old Billy Sargent was standing at a CTA bus stop at 61st and King Dr drinking his coffee around 8:30 this morning.  Friends and neighbors say that was his routine.

The gunman opened fired and Sargent was shot and  transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Late this afternoon family members gathered just after learning about the death.

“This really does hurt. It’s emotional,” said Curtissa Cameron.  “ It’s not right to take someone older like that.  That’s messed up.”
