A 21-year-old has been charged in the shooting of a high school basketball coach while he was driving his daughter to school.

Deandre Thompson, 21, was charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder and one count of aggravated battery with a firearm, according to Chicago police.

Last Thursday, 38-year-old Shawn Harrington, an assistant boys basketball coach at Marshall Metro High School, was he stopped red light in the Humboldt Park neighborhood when police say Thompson opened fire.

Harrington was transported to Stroger Hospital. He remains hospitalized although his condition has been stabilized. His daughter was not injured.

Thompson is scheduled to appear in bond court Wednesday.
