LOS ANGELES – The man who played Trapper John on the TV series “M.A.S.H.” has died. Wayne Rogers was 82 when he died in Los Angeles of complications from pneumonia.

In an age before shows like “Friends” and “The Big Bang Theory” ruled the tube, “M.A.S.H” was the dominant show on TV — and still ranks today as one of the most popular shows of all time. And though Rogers was only on the show for the first three seasons of the CBS series, he remains one of the more popular characters of the series.

His character and Hawkeye Pierce — played by Alan Alda — often seemed to have an endless supply of both booze and one-liners.
