CHICAGO — A new interactive transportation map is out for the Chicago area, but it’s more than just a tool for getting around.

It is designed to light a fire under civic leaders to make improvements to the system.

The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) has just launched a map showing how all forms of transit work in the six-county area.

The interactive map shows everything from highway travel times and rail congestion to access to public transportation.

The maps also show the quality of bridges, roads and rail transportation.

Developers hope it’ll lead to more upgrades and expansions.

The program encourages users to offer suggestions on transportation improvements and how to pay for them.
