Lincoln Square businesses robbed, employees injured

Police have issued a warning to businesses in Lincoln Square after two recent robberies in which the suspect injured employees.

According to police, the robberies occurred in  the afternoon when only one employee was present.

On March 21, in the 2300 block of W Leland, the suspect entered the business and asked the employee for help before approaching the counter and announcing a robbery.  The suspect took money from the register and employee and then punched and kicked the employee before fleeing.

In the second incident, on March 25, the robber also asked for help and announced a robbery at a business in the 1900 block of W Montrose. The victim handed over money and attempted to leave the store, at which point the suspect punch the victim in the face.

Police describe the offender as a black male, 35-45 years old, 5’11”- 6’2” weighing 240-250 lbs.  He was wearing a beige “puffy” jacket and dark jogging pants.

Police are warning businesses in the area and ask that anyone with information contact Area North police at 312-744-8263.
