SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Governor Bruce Rauner is warning lawmakers that they better pass a budget by the end of the session tomorrow.

Meanwhile, House Speaker Mike Madigan is trying to get support for a budget that’s $3 billion in the red.

The governor says he won’t sign it, saying it’s designed to force a tax increase, without pro-business reforms.

Lawmakers can choose to work into overtime.  But Governor Rauner says he will not call for a costly special session.

At $22,000 a day, he says, Illinois just can’t afford it.
