Chicago police officers shot and killed a young man who attacked an officer with a knife, the Chicago Tribune reports.

It happened in the 400 block of East Marquette Road in the Woodlawn neighborhood.

The man was threatening suicide when police arrived. When they tried to intervene, he stabbed an officer's vest twice.

When he charged the officer a second time, he was shot.

No names have been released and there's no word on the condition of the officer.
