facebookThe tech world thought Facebook would reveal its own smartphone on Thursday — that was not the case.

Instead, the social networking juggernaut revealed Facebook Home — it’s an app the integrates its network on to your Android phone. Your home screen is covered with a Cover Feed and like photos by double-tapping your screen. It actually looks pretty cool.

But I have to wonder if Facebook is dipping its toe in the water with this. Maybe they’re waiting to see how the public receives this app before launching their phone?

The app will be available for download on April 12. HTC is also launching the HTC First phone that day, and the company is calling it the “only phone with Facebook Home pre-loaded and optimized.” The phone with the app is $99.99.
