CHESTERTON, Ind. — A banquet hall in Indiana was destroyed in an extra-alarm fire Monday.

The two-alarm fire broke out around 3:30 a.m. at Allure on the Lake, 526 Indian Boundary Road, in Chesterton.

40 people were evacuated from a nearby hotel while fire-fighters from multiple departments in the area worked to get the blaze under control.

Owner Troy  Clark said he is devastated by the loss.

“It’s a pretty devastating loss to my family,” he said.  “It’s pretty tough.”

Clark bought the property three years ago and just completed renovations last year.

Clark said he has been inundated with calls from brides.

Clark said he is trying to re-accommodate the 50 or more weddings scheduled for the rest of the year at his other banquet hall in LaPorte, Indiana.

Investigators with the Chesterton fire department, the state fire marshal and the insurance company will work together to determine the cause of the fire.  No injuries were reported.
