Woman charged after 85 live dogs, dozens of dead animals found in Freeport house

FREEPORT, Ill. — A shocking find in rural Freeport, Illinois. 85 active dogs and at least 65 dead dogs and cats were found inside a home littered with feces.

A woman who rented the home is being held in Wisconsin and could be extradited to Illinois.

Tina McKinnon faces charges of felony aggravated animal cruelty and misdemeanor cruel treatment to animals, according to the Journal-Standard newspaper.

The animals were found Monday by the owner of the property.

When he opened the door, he said, more than 30 dogs ran out.
