CHICAGO — Illinois is a step closer to expanding its list of conditions that qualify for medical marijuana.

A Chicago judge ordered Wednesday morning people who suffer from chronic, post-operative pain should be allowed to treat it with legal marijuana.

The Illinois Department of Health has denied chronic pain before despite a recommendation from a medical advisory panel that it should be approved.

The attorney general’s office has 30 days to decide whether to appeal.
