SPRINGFIELD, Ill. -- Day 324 of the state's budget battle and the clock is ticking on the spring legislative session.

Governor Rauner spoke to a group of business owners today said he`s still optimistic.

“We can get a deal. And think what we've got to do is stay positive,” he said.

But the rank and file lawmakers have grown weary.

Lawmakers have until May 31 to pass a budget with a simple majority and they have until July 1 to pass a budget with a super majority.  But another deadline is looming.  This is an election year. And few lawmakers have shown willingness to compromise.
