Illinois Treasurer Dan Rutherford announced his run for governor Sunday morning.

Rutherford is seeking the Republican nomination for governor in 2014. He’ll make it official during an announcement scheduled for 10:30am at Harry Caray’s Restaurant in Chicago.

Rutherford follow-ups the announcement with a three-day tour through Illinois, making 13 stops in several cities, including his hometown of Pontiac.

Rutherford was elected to treasurer in 2010 and prior to that, he served as a state representative and senator since 1993.

Governor Pat Quinn has not said if he plans to run for re-election.

Democrats Lisa Madigan and former White House Chief of State Bill Daley are also both considering a run for the office.
