CHICAGO — PAWS Chicago is helping animals caught in Louisiana’s flood waters.

A team of veterinarians and volunteers drove to the affected areas in Louisiana on Wednesday to rescue dozens of cats and dogs from local shelters there. The pets rescued will alleviate some of the overcrowding at shelters in the areas and make room for the influx of animals from this natural disaster.

Today, the rescued pets arrived to Chicago, where they could hopefully find their forever home.

The animals will receive complete medical care, vaccinations, microchips and spay/neuter surgeries as needed.

Once medically cleared, each pet will be available for adoption at PAWS Chicago.

But first, Paws is looking for folks to foster the pets. They welcome donations, and are asking people in Chicago to open their homes to foster the animals and to volunteer at PAWS Chicago’s Adoption Centers.
