CHICAGO – Officials say there is a surge in heroin overdoses in the Chicago suburbs.

Coroners are seeing a spike in the number of people overdosing on tainted heroin in DuPage and Kane counties.

They are worried it’s the same heroin that recently caused 74 people to overdose on Chicago’s West Side within a 72-hour period.

That heroin was mixed with the painkiller fentanyl.
