CHICAGO — Five people, including three Chicago firefighters, were seriously injured when a van collided with a fire truck early Saturday morning in Rogers Park.

The fire truck was going South on Ridge near Loyola when it was hit head-on by a van traveling in the other direction.

Two people in the van were pinned in by the crash, and taken to St. Francis Hospital in serious-to-critical condition after they were extracted from the vehicle. The three firefighters were taken to Lutheran General Hospital in serious condition.

There’s no information on what caused the crash, and it’s currently under investigation.
