CHICAGO — Tuesday is National Unfriend Day, an event that encourages Facebook users to weed out some of their social media “friends.”
Late night talk-show host Jimmy Kimmel came up with the idea back in 2010. He said it was a day where people could remove people from their friends list who overshare, rant about politics, spoil TV shows’ endings and otherwise clog others’ news feeds.
In honor of the annual day, Kimmel hit the streets Tuesday to talk to people in masks who shared their “Worst Facebook Friends.”
Kimmel said he is encouraging people to cut 10 percent of their friends list on Tuesday.
