CHICAGO — A 12-year-old girl was shot while she was in a car with her father on Chicago’s Northwest Side.
Police said the girl was the passenger in a car driven by her father around 2:30 a.m. Sunday on the 3200 block of North Kimball Avenue when a Hispanic man in another car fired shots, striking her in the leg.
The girl’s father and the man who fired shots, who was in a gold-colored sedan, had gotten into a verbal altercation minutes before the shooting at a gas station.
Police said it appeared that the father was the intended target. He was not injured.
The father drove the girl to Swedish Covenant Hospital, where she was listed in good condition.
No one has been taken into custody.
