CHICAGO — Chicago police are investigating the mysterious death of an 8-year-old girl in her home on the Far South Side.

The girl reportedly was found hanging in her closet in a house at 92nd and LaSalle Wednesday

The Cook County Medical Examiner is conducting an autopsy.

Investigators are looking into whether the girl hanged herself.

The girl’s grandfather, Todd Evans, says she was “too young to know what suicide is.”

Evans said his daughter had recently moved the 8-year-old and her two other children into the home from Florida.

He said the mother had just taken them to the doctor for check-ups in order to enroll them in school.
