A female student stabbed at a Connecticut high school Friday morning has died.

The student was involved in a fight with another student reportedly over a prom date rejection.

It happened in Milford at Jonathan Law High School.

School officials say it was an isolated fight between the two students and no one else was involved.

The school was shut down for the day. Administrators released all the students.

A published report said the 16-year-old victim refused to go to the prom with the attacker.

The prom scheduled for this evening was postponed.

The suspect, who is also 16 years old, is in police custody.
