Funeral arrangements for Chicago broadcasting legend Roy Leonard have been announced.   Visitation will be Friday, September 12th from 4 – 9 pm at Wm.  H. Scott Funeral Home, 1100 Greenleaf Avenue in Wilmette.

Mass will follow at 10am Saturday, September 13th,  at St. Mary Catholic Church, 1012 Lake Street in Evanston.   In lieu of flowers, Leonard’s family “asks that you be kind to each other.”

Leonard passed away Thursday at the age of 83.  He spent 31 years at WGN Radio and TV, before retiring in 1998.   Leonard hosted the “Family Classics” movie series 1985-2000 and reviewed theater and films for WGN-TV.

“As one of the original ‘Chicago’s Very Own,’ Roy Leonard’s 31 years at WGN Radio and TV was a legacy in taste, thoughtfulness and entertainment,” WGN news director Jennifer Lyons said in a statement. “He led a full life filled with graciousness and kindness. We lost a great man; he will be sadly missed.”
