Just when you thought the parking meter issue was over, it heats up again.

Some Chicago business owners are saying they would like the city to reverse its deal for free Sunday parking.  They think ever since the change, business has dropped anywhere from 10 to 20%.

Jeff Lawler from Geja’s Restaurant says the meters should be used as a way to create turnover and that free Sundays is not making that possible.  The Lincoln Park Chamber of Commerce argues that drivers will park in a single spot all day Sunday which keeps others from parking there and walking through the neighborhoods.

Alderman Scott Waguespack says he’s been trying for a year to reverse the decision in certain neighborhoods but the proposal has stalled at city hall.

The Mayor’s Office says they are looking into the possibility and will have an answer in the coming weeks.
