CHICAGO -- In Chicago, French citizens gathered at Montrose Beach to celebrate Bastille Day.

For many, their hearts were clearly back home.

News of the truck attack and the many casualties were not far from everyone’s minds.

Chicago's French consul general was at Thursday's event. He spoke to the crowd, saying all of their thoughts were with the victims and their families.
