Probation ended at midnight for Former Governor George Ryan.

Ryan was released from prison last year after serving five years.

Now that probation is over– he is able to travel freely and talk publicly.

Ryan was convicted for a truck driver license scandal during his time as Secretary of State.

The corruption was revealed after an accident killed six children in 1994.

Scott and Janet Willis’ children were killed when their van exploded after it ran over a piece of steel that fell off a truck.

Ryan tells the Sun-Times he has never stopped praying for the Willis’ children. He also says he does not feel responsible for their deaths.

Ryan says he is writing a book about his experience.
