We’re set to see the biggest warm up of 2014.

A warm front moving through the area today could touch off an isolated shower or thunderstorm this morning, but mainly its effects will be a big boost in temperatures.

Highs today are expected to top out near 80 degrees this afternoon while lakeside temps could hold closer to the 70 degree mark.

After a partly cloudy night with lows holding in the 60s, Thursday is forecast to be even warmer.

Highs in the low to mid-80s are likely with the chance for spotty showers and storms mainly in the western suburbs. The chance for rain becomes likely Thursday night as a cold front approaches the region.

Scattered showers will remain in the forecast for Friday as cooler temperatures move into the region.
