COAL CITY, Ill. – Police officers and firefighters are who you most rely on during an emergency. So what happens when the fire house is hit by a tornado? In Coal City, it’s business as usual.

Monday night’s tornado hit hard up and down Berta Road. It wiped out trees and took off roofs.

The Coal City Fire Station #2 also got hit hard last night.  The communication’s tower was knocked over onto the new building severely damaging the roof.  But the firefighters inside didn’t stop. In fact they were just getting started.

Northern Illinois’s mutual aid box alarm system was enacted and firefighters from surrounding departments converged on Coal City to help with search and rescues.  Today there were secondary searches that took place.
