CHICAGO -- This morning Chicago firefighters rescued a boater who was knocked into Lake Michigan after a wave hit his sailboat.

The boater was about ten miles from shore when he fell into the water around 11 a.m. today.

Another person onboard called 911, but didn't know how to operate the sailboat and was thus unable to pull the man out of the water. The man was treading water for about half an hour before rescuers tracked him down.

Though the man was not wearing a life jacket, he luckily did not require hospitalization.
