Firefighter injured battling apartment fire in Belmont Cragin

CHICAGO — A firefighter was injured after a fire in the city’s Belmont Cragin neighborhood.

The fire started at about 6 a.m. Thursday at an apartment building located on Major and Diversey Ave.

Large flames and clouds of smoke could be seen from Skycam 9 as crews battled the fire.

One firefighter was taken to Community First Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

He is in stable condition.

The fire was struck around 7 a.m.
