Riding a noisy motorcycle in downtown Chicago will soon become a very expensive proposition.

A new ordinance passed by the City Council last week will slap a fine of up to $500 on a motorcyclist who removes his muffler and revs his motor in the Loop.

The current fine tops out at $100.

A local motorcycle advocacy group says it sees nothing wrong with imposing noise limits on cyclists.
