For busy Chicago pet parents, help may be as close as your smart phone.

A new app called Wag offers regularly scheduled or on-demand dog walking for owners. Simply tap the ‘ASAP’ button and in under an hour a walker comes to the rescue.  Owners can monitor it all on their cell phones.

Once the walker gets to the house, they tap a button that says they’ve arrived and it alerts owners.  Once they start the walk they tap another button that says okay we’re starting our walk..

Owners can text walkers instructions.  Key and door codes are kept in key boxes outside.  And when it’s all finished, there’s a report card.

Like ride sharing, the app shows all the available walkers in the area with ratings and a little bio.  If the owner has time, meet and greets can be set up beforehand and the company says all walkers are thoroughly vetted.
