For more than 50 years he’s been by Barbie’s side, but this weekend in Chicago Ken is stealing the spotlight at the third annual Ken-vention.

About 150 collectors are at the event through the weekend buying, selling, competing and learning.

There are tons of workshops on everything  from paper dolls and scrapbooking to making accessories, all thanks to the man behind the doll.

And collecting Kens isn’t a cheap hobby — vintage and collector dolls can cost tens of thousands of dollars.

Money aside, however, collectors tell WGN say this event is about a community.
